Susan Permut is the Websites Manager overseeing the public and internal websites and communication for the Office of Research Facilities (NIH/OD/ORF) of the National Institutes of Health. She is a Sec. 508* Coordinator and consultant for the Trans-OM (Office of Management) Accessibility Program serves on the NIH 508 Advisory Committee, the ORF Safety Committee and the ORS/ORF Partnership Communications Team. She helped plan and draft the OM SharePoint Governance Plan. Keenly interested in design concepts and ideas for health and welfare, is a HiBR; member/consultant, originator and first workgroup team lead for the “Healthy Buildings Choices” GoTo matrix for translational application.
 
Prior to joining the NIH, at The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), she represented NIST on the planning committee for the EPA National Customer Service Convention in Washington, D.C. providing the keynote speaker, other subjects and speakers, logo design and was a facilitator and panel moderator. At NIST she provided consultation, design, and communication for accessible signage for disability access, emergency preparedness, print, and exhibits and was Webmaster for the Diversity, Safety/Security and Facilities Services websites. She designed and executed the Facilities Services Customer and Usage Satisfaction Survey and was a member of the Balanced Score Card Initiative. She was a member of the Succession Planning team for the NIST Director. She planned and facilitated the Facilities Services Diversity Training Program. She is a “Distinguished Toastmaster” and has taught and mentored speakers and area Toastmaster clubs.
 
Prior to her Government service, she  was the principal and CEO of her own design, exhibit, marketing and communications firm for 25 years with extensive background in consultation, design, communications and project management; serving commercial and residential architects, real estate/developers,  commercial and scientific corporations, academia, and medical and financial institutions. She was the Advertising Director of a national software company and the Art Director of a Washington advertising agency. She is a graduate of the University of Florida, Gainesville in Advertising Design and Communications, and holds Certificates in Total Quality Management and Electronic Imaging and Printing. She is also a fine artist.
