Ashrant Aryal is a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Burcin Becerik-Gerber in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Southern California. He received his BSc in Civil Engineering from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology and started his PhD at the University of Southern California in 2015. His research focuses on learning user preferences and patterns of interactions between building occupants and building systems using different sensing methods and machine learning. His research also involves automated control of the local environment around the occupant based on their comfort preferences while trying to improve their productivity and health by developing a bi-directional interaction between the occupant and the building to shift occupant preferences towards healthier goals.
