HiBR 2023

Health in Buildings Roundtable 2024Improving Lives with Health-centered Buildings

About the Health in Buildings Roundtable (HiBR) 2022

Intent

Upon authorization and handoff from National Institutes of Health (NIH), Integrative Sciences (IntSci) intends to restructure the current Health in Buildings Roundtable (HiBR) from a federal government initiative to a private sector entity, providing an opportunity for continued mission-based participation across various sectors, including but not limited to, government agencies, academic institutions, consulting firms, health care providers, researchers, scientists/ engineers, developers of tools and resources, vendors, thought leaders, and community stakeholders. IntSci welcomes back the current membership, plans to create a modified governance model, and is evaluating a range of membership options.

Benefits of Continued Engagement

  • Collaborate with industry thought leaders, government, academia, engineers, researchers, suppliers and partners to develop pragmatic approaches to educating and promoting healthier buildings
  • Stay current through participation in workshops and industry events, contribution to panel discussions and pilot projects
  • Influence the direction and requirements of public and private sector initiatives through an established neutral platform
  • Increase emphasis on accelerated implementation, data collection, and measurement of improved outcomes

Governance

IntSci will provide the vision and necessary organizational leadership to convene a group of individuals from various organizations who will be invited to serve on an interim Steering Committee (SC). The SC composition will primarily include persons/ organizations from the existing HiBR membership who are keen to align with IntSci and propel the new entity forward.

Organizational Transition

Funding and Support

IntSci will provide initial seed funding for corporate restructuring and administrative setup. Our goal is to establish a legal and compliant entity that provides creative continuity and infusion of new ideas. We will take the lead on management functions, e.g., financial accounting/ reporting, administration, communications. IntSci will reach out to the SC group and others to assist with necessary transition tasks, e.g. website transfer and maintenance, document management, events calendar, administrative support. One of the early tasks of the SC will be to draft a tentative budget for 2022-2023, based on priority areas identified during the first few reorganizational meetings.

Initial Goals

  1. Ensure smooth transition
  2. Establish Steering Committee
  3. Revise Charter
  4. Develop focus areas
  5. Create three-year plan
